Dear Doctor:

I am 25 years old. I already had a hair transplant done by Bosley. I had 800 grafts done in 2001. I also have a 15.5cm scar from the strip procedure with Bosely. I have included my pictures right after taking shower. It is a little bit wet.

Now I need more work.  I am not that bald, I can use gel in my hair it's just thin.

GOALS
Bosely did only the front and not the crown or vertex of the my head. When I put Toppik nobody can notice thin hair in the front but the crown area still looks very thin even if I use Toppik. I would love to fix both the front and the crown, but I think my biggest concern now is to fix the CROWN/VERTEX because not even Toppik can help that area right now.

In the future, I would like to fix the strip scar from Bosley too, but that's further down the road.

Questions:

1. How many grafts do you think I will need to fix the crown?

2. Do you suggest that I fix the crown with FUE or with another strip session?

3. Do you think I will have sufficient donor hair from the back and sides of my head? As for BHT, I do not have any chest hair. All I have is leg hair which I am not sure if that will help.

4. Since you are going to take FUE grafts from the back and sides of my head, will the back and sides of my head look very THIN afterwards?

5. What do you think is a realistic goal for my case?

Thank you in advance.

Dr. Jones' Comments

Dear Case 98,

At 25, it would be a huge mistake to be aggressive with your crown area. Future hairloss is a major consideration in young transplant candidates. My first suggestion would be to try for 12 months on propecia and hopefully you will get some regrowth on the crown area,
