Dear Doctor:

I am 24 years old. I would say I am a moderate NW2. I am looking to get FUE or BHT done.

GOALS

I want to get my temples filled in. I don't need to lower my hairline. I just need the temples to be on the same level as the center of my hairline. And I have very thick coarse hair. Also my crown and everything is fine. It's just my temples!!

Questions:

1. How many FUE grafts will I need to fill in the temples area?
2. How many days do I have to schedule for the surgery?
3. How much would this cost to me?
4. What do you think is a realistic goal for me ?
5. Will permanent shock loss be an issue for me?
6. I am only 24. Am I too young for FUE?
7. Should I use body hair as donor instead of head hair?  I have photos of my pubic area included, but HairSite said most doctors would only use pubic hair as a last resort. Is that true? The following are photos of my pubic area shaved.

BTW, if you are interested, you can read my post in the forum at

Thanks for everything. I will be waiting for your reply,

HairSite Visitor.

Dr. Jones' Comments

Case 162,

At 24 you are making a big mistake filling in your temporal angles and having a transplant.

With hair loss at this young age you could lose significant hair in the next 20 to 30 years. Low temporal angles in a 30 or 40 year old with a lot of hair loss looks funny and is very difficult to fix. Start on propecia and hopefully you will get some regrowth,
