Seborrheic Dermatitis & Scalp
Inflammation
The role of
inflammation and seborrheic dermatitis in hair loss has been
debated for years. Recently, studies conclude that "the
inflammation that often accompanies androgenetic alopecia is
an important aggravating factor. Inflammation can accelerate
the progression of hair loss by promoting telogen effluvium
and may also induce perifollicular fibrosis and scarring. "

10% of the other main types of noncicatricial alopecia. The
notion that perifollicular inflammation increases hair loss in
androgenetic alopecia needs further investigation."
